5 Easy Ways to Maintain at Home

The way to get the most value out of your vehicle is by using it as long as possible.

To do so, we offer 5 easy ways to maintain your vehicle at home, so that you can hopefully get the most out of your vehicle, and keep it looking good between service check-ups.

1. Check Your Oil Levels

It's always a good idea to check your oil levels about once a week, especially if you notice any leaks. You may also want to keep an extra container of your preferred type of motor oil so that you don't need to run to the store when you're a quart low. If your car does not already have a user's guide, explaining how the check your oil levels, your local auto store should have them available for purchase.

2. Give The Engine A 'Work Out'

Occasionally, you may find that one of your vehicles hasn't been started in a while. This is common with hot rods and weekend joy-riders. It may be a good idea to take 5 minutes out of your week and start up your vehicle and let it run -- just to give it a little exercise. By doing so, this may also help you notice anything wrong with your vehicle BEFORE the weekend arrives, possibly saving your upcoming joy-ride!

3. Keep It Clean

By keeping the exterior and interior of your car clean, you can help prevent unnecessary early restoration. Everyday commuting, sunlight, and weather can slowly destroy a once impressive finish. Car washes, wiping away dust, and servicing any leather or vinyl surfaces may extend years on that new car look.

4. Keep An Eye On Your Tires

Be sure to keep on eye on your wheels! The best ways to do so are by checking your tire pressure and keeping an eye on the tire wear.

Use a tire-pressure gauge to determine the PSI of all 4-tires. Ideally, you want all 4 tires to be filled equally.

5. More On Those Tires...

When looking at tire wear -- notice how the tire tread starts to flatten over long-term use. If the wear is not equal from the outside of the tire in, be sure you bring your car in for servicing. Alignment issues and over/under inflation can cause uneven tire wear.
